[SUGGESTION] Daily Forum Log In Bonus

Discussion in 'Suggestion Box Archives' started by ChespinLover77, Jul 19, 2017.

  1. I don't think anyone else has made a suggestion thread on this so....

I was thinking about how there is Daily Log In bonuses in game (100r per 12 hours I believe, when you log in) and how some people new and old don't use the forums (weather it's because they don't know about it or just don't care to) this plays a part of the forums being not very active at times and the recent threads list always being filled with auctions and such.
So how could we try to fix some of that? Perhaps offering log in bonuses !
This would hopefully encourage newer players to get more involved in the community, and maybe even get more to stay because they can see more people share interest in this server than are online at that moment not mention make a few extra ruppes.

Let me know what you think :D

  2. +1 Great Idea Though Im thinking maybe this should only give you a bonus every day but only for 50

  3. We don't currently have this possibility. However, maybe in the future...
  4. +1 More connections to the forums can make a huge difference. After all, some retired players hang around the forums for years. I also think its a great way to earn more rupees. I have seen some new players that have become frustrated over their rupee balance. :)

  5. I'm always logged into the forums. I never log in.

  6. Same could go for an AfK person on mc
  7. Auto afk kick.
  8. I didn't know that was a thing. No wonder people make AFK pools
  9. They don't help. You have to interact with the game (right clicking, or inventories) in order to not be "AFK".
  10. Not every person is logged in 24/7 :p
  11. -1, sorry but I'm not too sure here...

Wouldn't this more or less invalidate your in-game login bonus? Because if you already get a nice bonus when you go to the forum then why bother logging into the game to get your login bonus? Or vote...

Right now all rupee bonuses serve some kind of mutual purpose. When you log into the game you get a bonus, so you're getting something good but so is the Empire (or can be) because there's a new player coming online (new for that session). If you vote: same. You get something out of that, but once again so is the Empire: more votes on the websites.

But what does the Empire gain from someone coming onto the forums?

Although I agree that more (serious) forum participation can be a good thing, I'd still rather see players in-game than on the forums (of course: preferably both).

And well, players already get a bit of a bonus. If you register on the forum for the first time (so: use /register in-game) you get a rupee bonus (I think 5k?). I think that should be enough.

But the reason I went -1 is also because I can't help worry that players might come onto the forums for the wrong reasons. I'd personally rather see that players join because they have an honest interest in "EMC 2.0" (as I tend to call the forums) rather than merely come up to collect a bonus and get going again. I think that's likely to happen.

  12. I agree, some people could only come on here for the bonus, but perhaps if we interest more players to participate in the various discussions we have then they will appear on the recent threads list. And for those logging in for the bonus it might catch their eye and get them to read the said thread maybe even reply to it. Although that is just one single thread, if they find it interesting enough it could be what they need to get them checking up on the forums for more than just rupees ^-^

  13. Yea i was thinking something like that too, because say you actively try to log on to the server to get the bonus (and have fun of course :p) but maybe somthing has come up and you cant get on for a few days just log on the forums and you could get a little bit of the bonus you would normally get. Having a lower bonus for the forums would hopefully encourage players who can to log on to the server to do so :)
  14. I know this isn't possible at the moment, but I wouldn't like it even if it was.

Logging on the forum requires way less effort than logging into the game.
You only need to have an internet browser and enter the 'e' of empireminecraft.com, press Enter and there you go. You can even do it on mobile, whenever you please.
On the contrary, to log in in-game, you've got to boot up a pc, and boot up a game, and only then you can click some buttons to connect to the server.

Secondly, on the forums there's way less to make you stay than in-game.
You'll arrive at the front page, and most of the threads there you'll have seen already. You might've gotten some alerts, though, which is indeed a good way.
But still, there's more in-game: perhaps you're someone who likes to check his mail, like other people check their forum alerts, so you could want to do that when you're in-game. Perhaps you've got things you like to do when you're logged in, like harvesting from a farm, or using Pots of Gold or Haunted Heads. And the biggest thing: someone might say your name. Someone might say hello. That doesn't happen on the forums, if you don't do anything. It will happen in-game, and as such there's quite a bit bigger of a chance of people actually staying after that initial log-in, I think.

  15. Let me expand my point. I never actually log out of my forums account, so it's always loaded whenever I open the website. Therefore I would never actually get any bonuses from "logging in" as that's something I never do.

    -1
  16. Using a log-in to track it wouldn't make sense, for the reason you've given. During a given session, though, you can see who's logged in (otherwise it wouldn't be known what to display for name, avatar, rupee balance et cetera), so it could reward you for having a session with your name.
  17. I don't want to be negative on this but overall I am at a -1

I do have lots of desire to get more people/players in to forum activities so I see anything to bring people to the website a positive thing. However, I go -1 on this because taking anything away from possibly getting people to sign in to the game or keeping them from voting is not a good move.

I do think we need a better way to get players, especially newer/uniformed, to understand what goes on in the website and forums so they an take in all of what EMC has to offer. I'm not exactly sure how to do that, but not sure this is the way. I have tried explaining to newer players but they are generally already loaded down enough with information that tossing in things about the website is to much.

  18. I see Ches' idea, it's not meant to be a significant source of income, it's purely meant to get people involved on the forums, see what's new, interact with more people. When I look around the forums I see the same 10-15 names every time, compared to the 100+ I see online fairly regularly? I think this would be a great idea for the community so I'll +1
