  1. I was actually going to mention this about MatthewDA but chose to hold my tongue instead.

Um... Wouldn't a bias against something also be a bias for something a specific way...?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when one generally says "any way except this way, " wouldn't that technically be the same as one definite way?

Words can not explain how angry I am. I'll be writing about this soon.

  3. No, we respect him for it. Have you ever seen his gold farm? It's frickin huge. He put effort into making it, gathering multiple DCs of obsidian, finding a good spot, etc. so he deserves every orb of xp he gets. I come on here to play vanilla Minecraft. Not Vanilla Aikar's interpretation of Minecraft, Vanilla the game that Mojang made.
  4. Agree
  5. Theres many ways to get XP in MC that involves actually doing more than spam clicking a mouse, or worse, absolutely nothing at all in the case of this complaint.

Choose one. Preferably, do it in a group and get boosted XP. I've been meaning to boost XP for all the other activities, guess I can do that here soon to drive more people away from farms.
  6. Or you could just ban people that try to build farms altogether :) Just a thought~
  7. Well there we have it. Outlaw Hoppers. Its a FARM Mechanical Item in the highest form.
    ChrisFlareon and TrapThem like this.
  8. And that farm can still be used by not letting the monster fall to its death, and to then kill it in 1 hit just like every other exp farm works.

  9. What im getting at you hate farms an you want every one to quite farming an go out an mine well some ppl dont have time to do that. thats why they have farms. Were not savages that go out an hunt an kill every thing or mine every thing .
  10. As much as you all know I dislike farms, I'm still trying to be reasonable and compromise here...
There's lines for what we allow with farms, and we will adjust if we feel like a concept crosses those lines.

Adapt to the changes is all I ask of farm users. You don't have to tear down the farm. Just adjust it.
  11. From what I've seen, you're the only one that has an issue with farms. I don't know where you're getting "we" from.

Oh my god, thank you so much.
  12. So you have the time to build these massive farms that may 'take 3 months', but you cant go into the wastelands and go mining for 30 minutes?

If you don't have the time to take 30 minutes to go mining, are you really playing the game?

  13. The reason it takes 3 months to do the farms is the fact that we as the player has lifes other then emc if a player had no life an was on emc all day then yea it would take maybe a week to build these farms.

  14. Aikar my Wither farm couldn't adjust to the changes, 1.8 changed its biome. Can you change that back then?
  15. I uh, like to run in circles on my residences, I thought this should be known.
Most of this stuff doesn't really do anything to me, if you mess up my running in circles, I will hurt you I will leave emc.
  16. This french vanilla server is turning into a chocolate server.
  17. Now vanilla/chocolate swirl ice cream is delicious, I don't mind that at all.
  18. I'm confused with some of the reasoning behind not having any farms. I get that some of the drop rates needed to be lower. Hell when Me, Dek and Toade built our temple farm the first thing we said was 'Oh my... this will be changed'. And I agree it was too much for doing nothing.

I build farms. That's what I love to do. I build farms mostly for materials to use and auction. (Don't auction much anymore though) I don't feel we are doing anything wrong either. Yes I have some alts that sit at my farms but I'm also always running around doing something. I let the farm work for me while I work on the farm. My main farms are my witch farm and gold farm. My gold farm is garbage in 1.9, I only use it now for personal use. My witch farm is invaluable to me and others. The main drops are redstone/glowstone dust. Redstone is used in so many items that only obtaining it through mining.. I don't know if we could keep up with the demand. Hell I can't keep up with the demand and I farm it.

I have many other farms as well. I like to have them so i can use them. I would get bored quick if I had to mine everything I needed. I think that prices on everything would sky rocket if everything needed to be acquired by hand. I think a big server like this needs some farm to keep up with the demand. But as mentioned this is not the case for all farms. (Iron, gold, etc.)

Anyways just my thoughts on the matter.

Btw I utterly detest the word Vanilla now. Minecraft SP is Vanilla. Anything else is just modified. And I don't mean this as a shot at anyone. There have been many changes from Vanilla that are great and others that suck. I may not have agreed with some of the changed but I moved on and adapted. That's really all you can do other than leaving.
  19. That wasn't some EMC intended change. that was Mojang failing to handle that problem earlier, and then failing in their solution to the problem making it not work for large servers.

I wish I could of found the solution I did sooner, but it is what it is :/

I will see what SS thinks about it, as it would have to be an SS repair.

  20. ...*sigh* ...*deep breath*
You know, this statement didn't irk me much before.
But looking back at it... This has to be the worst counter-statement I have ever seen an owner of a GAMING SERVER ever come up with, let alone one that differs far from the norm while simultaneously having the audacity to claim it's exactly like the norm*.

    * the norm as the server owner says it is, in his image, and not the original maker of the game.

You have to remember something: the people that joined your server bought their game from Mojang, not from Starlis Inc. Adding in arbitrary code like you are for the sole purpose of breaking builds that other people have come together to work on (and heck, I was part of a lot of those builds, sending over supplies, informing where things were broken or griefed on said builds, and even putting in little food farms, enchating areas, and resting areas for other people to enjoy) is NOT what these people joined for. These builds weren't made by one person in a matter of minutes just to get more bulk items for themselves in a matter of more minutes. They were built BY a community, for several hours (and even days) of work put into them, with careful placement in regards to spawn points and funnelling drops, FOR a community and made publicly for everyone to share, with only a minor griefing like maybe once every 1-3 weeks or so. That's the key word here: "community." We are a community of players on your server, and I'm pretty sure a lot of other people are going to be unhappy about this as well once they find out their farms will be broken.

This statement you made, this extremely bold and careless statement about how you don't "play" the game but merely "control" it, shows just how out-of-touch you are with everyone in your community. It probably explains your stance on why you hate afk farms so much. Simply put, you don't "play" the game like others do; hence, you cannot comprehend or understand why other people like them. I know it's a natural human reaction to hate or fear something you don't quite know or understand, but these people upset on this thread are trying to teach you. As a developer and coder, especially as a programmer, you of all people should know that there's always more to learn... new lines of code to plug in... new things to try, more commands to test, more paths to take and directions to choose. But you can't ever get better if you close your mind to what others have to say or suggest.

Don't say that there's nothing more to learn, either. As you grow older and age, you learn new things every single day of your life. So there's no excuse why you can't at least consider why everyone is saying what they are about this, or even give it a second thought as to why they're so upset instead of going "I like my own biased opinion and if you don't then goodbye." That kind of mentality is the same that will drive away the people who once looked up to you. Open your eyes. There's more to just owning a server. Why not get involved and build a few things of your own? Join the server from time-to-time or heck, even try joining another server, and maybe try to feel what others are feeling right now.

In short: you pretty much lose all credibility anywhere in any argument with that lingering statement of "I don't play so why should it matter to Youtubers and not me?"
Because the Youtubers made Minecraft what it is. You didn't make Minecraft. Mojang did. And yes, the people of Mojang, who made Minecraft? They actually DO play the game. They play it as WELL as develop it. Games, made BY gamers, FOR gamers. Imagine that.

You might want to watch this video -- sure, it's based around EA's despicable marketing tactics, and the title of the video MAY have a bit of a swear in it, but PLEASE listen to/watch the video - it might help you open your mind and heart to what all these gamers -- no, all these people, who play on your server, really want and hope to see from you.

    P.S.
If people still play on your server and buy Iron/Gold/Diamond Subscriptions, even after you make said changes, then yes. You technically are "personally gaining" from them. Including me. We're paying you.
