  1. Lol I never said you were whining I just said that your points weren't valid and I was simply pointing it out in a sarcastic way

  2. Community created things are hardly ever used...unless they "forgot" to change it...
  3. ColdZero, thank you for volunteering to pay for this server. You're really awesome! Thank you!!!!!!

  4. When I joined EMC I didn't have supporter, My Shop was made out of wood and cobblestone fairly cheap, I tried my best and payed attention to the market, I have a constant million. The rupees you get and the discounts don't really make a big different to the way you play an extra res is good but you can manage one residence. Only Hard Work and dedication can get you the money/supplies but this doesn't matter, the real thing that matters that you have fun.

  5. [Rudeness removed by staff.] I never said the server won't get donations, I said IMO it's better not to give advantages to donors over other players.
  6. That is not what "pay to win" means. Everything a supporter has that affects gameplay - residences, rupee bonuses, utopia access, expanded vaults and stables, just to name a few - make EMC pay to win in a strict sense.

"Pay to win" is probably best used to describe other servers - $100 for fly permissions, $10 for a notch apple, and so on - but it can be applied to EMC, too. Depends on what you consider pay to win.

EMC definitely has supporter perks that break the EULA.

  7. I might as well put in my two cents here. From what I have heard, Aikar needs Finalysm's permission (with this big fancy email) to allow Starlis to use his designs. Also, I believe Finalysm had to create his own textures for the blocks in case Mojang decided they didn't want us using their default ones. So yeah, it's sort of a mess right now. :p
  8. That would be $40 less from me a month, I'm not sure where you're expecting to make up the difference? If you're not expecting the policy changes to make up the difference, than, you're essentially saying the to the community "When will this server die already? Please die sooner."

  9. Just a friendly note, EMC's community is nothing like Hy****l's. We do not support calling someone or their ideas stupid. Just please make a mental note to turn on compassion here, and it will surely be returned. :)

  10. I'm not trying to change to server I wanted to see the community opinion of the subject.
  11. I never said he or his idea was stupid, he was making assumptions before reading my other posts in the thread. Also, are you implying it's fine to call people stupid at Hy****? Because it most definitely is not.

  13. PvP community's on EVERY server are bad. Yes there are the blitz/mega walls players and many of them are like that, but the majority of the community is this: Link removed by staff.
  14. Can we maybe not link to the other servers please.... I get it EMC is NOT like the others. And for that I am thankful.

I think you have accomplished what you wanted with your post - you got a few different viewpoints on what some of EMC's community thought. Can we lock the thread now and move on?
  15. Of course it's not, every server is different .(except maybe those tiny factions servers) Why lock the thread? Let everyone speak :3

  16. First of all I'd also like to chip in with requesting to keep links to other Minecraft forums out of the thread. I take a little offense to those (no need to argue, this is just my opinion) because I think it doesn't add anything to the discussion and also ignores the EMC rules; it comes over as a little bit rude even if that wasn't intended.

As to the EULA: I don't quite follow the whole discussion about this pay to win issue. I know where it's coming from of course, this post on the Mojang blog about server monetization. But that is also the key problem here. The EULA doesn't mention anything about this pay to win or gaining an advantage or anything. In fact the EULA mostly covers commercial use of their products.

To put it blunt, the EULA says this:

Then moving over to the post by Mojang and you'll see that they say this:

That's nice and all but it's also meaningless. When I start using Minecraft and/or the Minecraft server there's only one thing I'm directed at to comply with: the EULA.

    Here, from my server:

    Code:
    breve:/home/peter/spigot8 $ less eula.txt
#By changing the setting below to TRUE you are indicating your agreement to our EULA (https://account.mojang.com/documents/minecraft_eula).
    #Fri Apr 10 04:36:11 CEST 2015
    eula=true

See? This is the only link which matters here because those are the rules I had to comply with in order to start using the software.

Of course in the end this whole discussion is totally pointless when looking at the EULA. From that same EULA:

So what is the exact definition of content here? The EULA doesn't really explain that. This is why most legal documents start with a definition section to carefully explain the exact literal meaning of specific phrases. But for me, bottom line, is basically that if Mojang wants to take you down then they reserve the right to do just that without any need for them to motivate on the why and how.

Which makes discussions like these quite pointless. If there is a problem with EMC then only Mojang will be able to tell.

  17. We've let this thread go without taking action in hopes that everyone would abide by the rules.

Thread locked due to numerous reports. Posts edited to remove infractions to EMC policy with regards to direct links to other server threads and rudeness towards other players.
